Sculdubuldu Impro Series
YumikoYoshimoto born and living in Tokyo. After played in some rock bands, started free improvisation as participating the performance of a visual artist, HIGUMA Haruo in Echigo Tsumari Art Triennale in 2006.Since then collaborated with many musicians and trans-genre artists like MASUDA Naoyuki (guitar), MANJOME Jun (movie / dance), KARIMATA Michio (flute / saxophone), HATA Makiko (dance), UENO Yuji (performance / flower art), SHONO Takeshi (poem / voice), KAZAMAKI Takashi (percussion), HIROSE Junji (saxophone / self-made sound instruments), CHINO Shuichi (piano / sound art). Play in bands "Aun no Kakokyu", "lammtarra", "Tochukaso", etc. and also put emphasis on solo improvisation.
Gailė Griciūtė is a pianist, composer and sound artist, based in Lithuania. Graduate of Sibelius Music Academy in Finland and composition studies at The Lithuanian Music of Theatre and Academy. Gailė Griciūtė has been a member of various sound projects, she has participated in number of improvised music festivals and events in Finland, Germany, Holand, Japan, Kingdom of Bhutan and Lithuania. As a pianist and composer she is elaborating the notion of indeterminacy in music using improvisation as a composition technique, questioning, layering and inter – weaving sounds, thoughts and perceptions. Currently Gailė is working extensively with a German based Artist Thuy-Han Nguyen-Chi. As a member of contemporary art music ensemble “Varjo” Gailė has performed in Tokyo, Berlin London and Helsinki. While living in the Kingdom of Bhutan Gailė has formed free improvisation group called “Driklam Namza”.
He starts from degree in classical accordion, conducting, and jazz piano, now teaches in Kaunas Conservatory and VMU music academy. Arnas is on of the most active free music players in Lithuania. He acts as band leader, composer, recently he is working with theatre music and performance art.
